Hardy Spire is a veteran media strategist specializing in energy and transportation issues and experienced in public affairs campaigns, message crafting, creative development, crisis management, and media training.
Hardy previously served as Executive Director at Golin in Washington, D.C. following more than two decades as a national television news producer. Most recently Hardy was a Senior Producer at CNN in Washington, D.C. where he produced “Inside Politics” with John King each weekday and Sunday, and prior to that, “Reliable Sources” with Brian Stelter and Howard Kurtz. He also spent time on the production teams for “The Lead”, “The Situation Room”, and “State of the Union”. Hardy helped produce CNN’s Emmy-award-winning 2012 election night broadcast.
Before CNN, Hardy produced “EnergyNOW!”, a Capitol Hill-based national weekly television news magazine where a team of former network news correspondents and producers delved into the most pressing stories of the day about energy, the environment, technology, and politics.
Hardy began his career at CBS News in New York, and later Washington, D.C. He traveled to more than forty countries as White House producer for CBS correspondent Bill Plante, and later as Senior Producer for the CBS News Early Show. His very first job was as a CBS Page, working with the audience at the Late Show with David Letterman.
Hardy is a fourth-generation Washingtonian with roots that stretch to Iowa and Upstate New York. He enjoys kayaking in the Adirondacks and spending time with his family in Kensington, Maryland.
